Movie 1. Absorption of dying wing epidermal cells into the thoracic cavity through the wing veins. Wing epidermal cells were labeled by GFP in en-Gal4 UAS-GFPN flies. Within 1 hour of wing spreading, wing epidermal cells were detached from the wing cuticle and floated in the cavity between the dorsal and ventral wing cuticular sheets. The GFP-labeled cells and hemolymph move through the veins toward the thoracic cavity.
