Cover: Confocal image of a 12.5 dpc wild-type XX mouse gonad. The gonadal image is displayed in tandem to represent a pair of gonads. PECAM staining (blue) labels large, round primordial germ cells and the vasculature; BrdU labeling (red) identifies cells that have engaged in DNA synthesis; and phosphohistone H3 staining (green) indicates cells in mitosis.
