About the Cover
Cover picture
Male tail of the nematode Pristionchus pacificus imaged by scanning electron microscopy. Most male nematodes form nine ray sensilla that play an important role during mating behavior. Ray formation is developmentally regulated and requires complex positional information by the Hox genes. Ray formation is amenable to transgenic manipulation and has been used to study the evolution of the functional specificity of Hox genes in nematodes. For further details, see article by A. Gutierrez, L. Knoch, H. Witte and R. J. Sommer in Development 130(5), 983-993.
